The Cedar Waxwings ate the last of the Service Berries today. There is only dried small fruit at the very ends of the branches. The last photo is the Bandit or he is wearing my sunglasses.

Catbirds, Cardinals & Waxwings in the Serviceberry
Our 20 year old Serviceberry had a wonderful bloom this spring and now it is filled with seemingly delicious red berries. I first noticed a half a dozen Cedar Waxwings in the tree. Later Robins, Cardinals and Catbirds joined in the frenzy. It will take at least 4 days to strip it clean, but for now it is Bird Haven. I will post a study of Cedar Waxwings.

Red-bellied Woodpecker
It is hard to ignore a Red-bellied Woodpecker. Not only are they striking in appearance but their tapping can not be ignored. In the Spring the male attracts the female by loudly tapping on anything that will resonate including metal gutters and even vehicles. This male comes to the suet feeder occasionally but is skiddish.
Here he is showing off his nap.
Checking if it is OK to get suet.
This is why they are called Red-bellied.
Are you still watching me? Really?

Making Way for Wood Ducklings Part 3
The Ducklings landed one by one on the corner of the yard just a foot or so off of the alley. When the last Woody had the courage to jump, I went looking for the rest of the batch.
It wasn't hard finding the Ducklings since the darlings were peeping loud enough to hear a 30 feet away. They gathered in the alley and then under a truck. Soon they were off to the lake down the yards. I tried to follow them but lost them on the hillside. I have no doubt they made it to the water. These photos tell the rest of the story rather than great shots.
