Big Island State Park 5 - 19

It was a cold and rainy day so why not check out Big Island State Park with Paul and Carolee.  The immature Red-shouldered Hawk at the beginning of our walk should have clued us that we would not see the smaller birds were were hoping for. But we did see a few prairie birds. I don't remember seeing a Bob-o-link for decades but there they were.

Not to Neglect the Others May 18th

Our yard was full of other birds too. Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Indigo Buntings, Swainson's Thrush, Least Flycatcher, Red-eyed Vireo, Chipping Sparrows and Baltimore Orioles

Warblers on May 18th

The Warblers continued to come when I was in Minneapolis with Addy.  I missed them but Gunnar, Paul and Carolee didn't miss a bird.  It's great to be with our birding friends.

Magnolia Warblers & Red-breasted Nuthatches 5-14

Magnolia Warblers are beautiful birds as is the tiny Red-breasted Nuthatches.

Finally Warblers on May 14

A was anxious for the Warblers to come on this day since I was going to be missing International Migration Day on May 15th.  They came, I photographed and then I left.  We are always excited to see the Goldenwings which were a rarity but are more common lately. Redstarts are a flick of color in the trees but wait until they open their tails. Tennessee Warblers are beautiful in their subtle colors as are female Blackpolls and Yellowthroats.
