Red-bellied Woodpecker

It is hard to ignore a Red-bellied Woodpecker. Not only are they striking in appearance but their tapping can not be ignored.  In the Spring the male attracts the female by loudly tapping on anything that will resonate including metal gutters and even vehicles.   This male comes to the suet feeder occasionally but is skiddish.

The male Red-bellied Woodpecker is eating Mulberries or just hanging out.

Here he is showing off his nap.
Checking if it is OK to get suet.
This is why they are called    Red-bellied.

Are you still watching me?                         Really?
