Red-breasted Nuthatch

Pinecones and seeds were sparse in the North Country so the Red-breasted Nuthatches came south in search of food.  We always welcome them to our feeders and now to our stream.  Red-breasted are quite small, 3-5 inches long. White-breasted Nuthatches are year around residents in Oakwood.  They are larger and 5-9 inches long.
