Edinburgh Wetlands on a Cold Afternoon

We were waiting for the sun to break out to go for a bird walk, but it did not happen until sunset. So we went to Edinburgh Wetlands 10 miles from Alamo with Paul Prappas a great birder. We saw the Parula (Warbler), a much sought after bird this year. We have the Northern Parula in MN which Gunnar claims is a better bird. Anyway you look at it, it is a wonderful warbler. Taking a photo of it was beyond the two of us, but I got a few other shots. Still hoping for the Blue-headed Vireo here at Edinburgh Wetlands. By chance we met and birded with Judy and Giles Dunmore who are also staying at the Alamo .

A Buff-belly hummingbird hoovered in front of us and getting nectar.

                                                                                                      Curved-bill Thrasher

                                        Long-billed Thrasher

       Cormorants on Sticks                                                              Green-wing  Teal

Redheads with Bluebills or Lesser Scaups

The sun was out for 15 minutes during sunset, but it was lovely.
