RGV Coastal EXPO at Edinburgh Wetlands

Student Extravaganza at Edinburgh, TX is a wonderful two day event hosted at the Edinburgh Wetland along Birding Center with Texas Parks, Fish and Wildlife, National Parks, Turtle Rescue Center and more. The focus is on coastal ecology and south Texas wildlife. Hundreds of students come Alamo, McAllen, La Joya, and as far as Port Isabel. There were numerous activities for students from grade school to high school. Master Gardeners and Master Naturalist had the booth I helped. The lovely volunteer women were native Texas gardeners , one Winter Texan and two high school students. My highlights were meeting new people and seeing other volunteers I had meet in the past years at the Nature Parks in RGV.

The young students of South Texas are very polite gracious and the teens are teens no matter where.  The high school volunteers were very sweet but were not dressed for the very cool morning.

Our booth appealed to the youngest students. We were trying to think of another activity for next year that would appeal to more students.

The Snowy Egrit sat in the canal 30 feet away from the bridge over the canal while hundreds of students walked noisily by.
The Midwest retired teachers went incognito in sunglasses and hats.

The climbing wall was the highlight for adventurous tweens.
